My Review of La Clásica at MAYUMI BURGER

After indulging in Tulum’s endless taco offerings, I found myself craving something different—a good burger. That’s how I ended up at MAYUMI BURGER, tucked in the vibrant neighborhood of La Veleta. And let me tell you, La Clásica Burger did not disappoint.

The Burger Breakdown
This burger had all the right elements to satisfy a craving. The Angus beef patty was juicy and perfectly seasoned, with a rich, slightly smoky flavor that paired beautifully with the toasted bun. The crispy edges of the bun added a nice texture to each bite, while the tangy red onions gave a sharp, crunchy contrast to the creamy homemade mayonnaise. Then there was the bacon—crispy, savory, and exactly the kind of crunch that made each bite even more satisfying.

The balance of sweet, salty, juicy, crunchy, and buttery made this burger a complete experience. Even though I’ve lost my sense of taste and smell, I could still appreciate the textures and overall mouthfeel. Everything came together in perfect harmony, making it one of the most enjoyable burgers I’ve had in Mexico.

A Refreshing Pairing
The manager, knowing just what I needed to complement the burger, recommended the Coconut Lemonade—a tropical twist I wasn’t expecting. It came topped with a whipped froth, a slice of lime, and an aloe leaf, creating a refreshing and visually stunning drink. The drink was smooth and creamy, with just the right balance of sweetness and citrus, making it a perfect pairing for the burger’s savory flavors.

Sides That Steal the Show
The sides at MAYUMI BURGER are no afterthought. The fries were seasoned perfectly, and when dipped in their house-made mayonnaise, they reached a new level of indulgence. Then there were the onion rings—light, crunchy on the outside, and sweet and crispy on the inside. I’m not a fan of soggy onion rings, and these were nothing short of perfect.

A Local’s Stamp of Approval
As I was about to head out, I bumped into Gigi, a local food guide who runs a weekly dinner meetup. She and her boyfriend had also dropped by to get their burger fix. When the local food expert swings by for a burger, you know you’re in the right spot. Gigi gave her seal of approval, and that just reinforced how special MAYUMI BURGER truly is.

Food For Thought...
If you find yourself in Tulum, craving something other than tacos, MAYUMI BURGER is the spot to satisfy those burger cravings. With a fantastic burger, refreshing coconut lemonade, and top-notch sides, it’s a must-visit for any burger lover. La Clásica Burger is a delicious experience I highly recommend.

Cheers!

Joseph
