A Pad Thai Night at Golden Cham Thai

From torn sidewalks to savory noodles, a long-awaited dish meets Tulum’s lively dinner scene
When I first stumbled upon Golden Cham Thai about six weeks ago, it was nearly hidden behind the chaos of a new sidewalk installation. With the concrete torn out and puddles dotting the entrance, I decided to hold off and explore a few more local spots before committing. But as any true food lover knows, a craving can haunt you—and this Pad Thai was calling me back.
Fast forward to tonight. I arrived with the Tulum Dinner Club, an eclectic gathering led by Gigi, who’s known for connecting locals, expats, and curious travelers through shared meals. The group—around 30 people—felt like an extended family, swapping stories and discovering Tulum’s food scene together. I caught up with some regulars, and later found myself deep in conversation with a business coach about the ins and outs of guiding clients toward success.
A Craving Finally Satisfied
The Pad Thai at Golden Cham Thai was worth the wait. The chicken had this fantastic crispy edge, with an inner tenderness that paired perfectly with the tender noodles, which carried that signature Thai balance of sweet and savory. A handful of fresh sprouts added a crunchy contrast. I’d been hoping for a hint of peanut sauce or maybe a twist to make it stand out a bit more—but this dish was delicious in its own right: straightforward, not too spicy, and ultimately satisfying.
As I stepped around a puddle leaving the restaurant, I felt grateful for the simple pleasure of a well-made Pad Thai. I capped off the night with a bike ride to Radio Tulum, where a live jazz trio added the perfect finishing note to a night of good food and good company.
If you’re in Tulum, make your way to Golden Cham Thai and catch a night with Gigi and the Dinner Club. It’s the kind of experience that’ll have you savoring every bite and every connection.
