Izzio Bakery Central Market
Chorizo Breakfast Burrito at Izzio Bakery
Written Review:
There are some meals that become more than just food—they turn into an obsession. That’s exactly what happened with the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito from Izzio Bakery inside the Denver Central Market. For a while, when I lived in Denver, this burrito was a weekly must-have. So, when I found myself with a long layover in Denver on my way home for the holidays, I did what any dedicated foodie would do—I jumped on the train from the airport to Union Station, walked straight over to Izzio, and reunited with my favorite breakfast burrito. How do you know you’re a regular? When the staff hasn’t seen you in over nine months and immediately stops what they’re doing to ask, “Where have you been?” That’s the kind of welcome that makes a place feel like home. Of course, in true One Bite Foodie fashion, I got a little sidetracked. On my way to Izzio, I made a quick stop at Dochi Donuts for another review (which, naturally, took longer than expected). Before I knew it, I was rushing to film this video before heading back to the airport. But even in a hurry, Izzio’s burrito never disappoints. Why This Burrito Is So Good Izzio’s Chorizo Breakfast Burrito is all about fresh, well-balanced textures: A large flour tortilla that’s soft, but holds everything together perfectly. Light, moist, and fluffy eggs that create a perfect base for all the flavors. Chorizo that’s almost like ground beef—rich, flavorful, and cooked just right. Crispy, seasoned potatoes that add a crunchy contrast but stay soft on the inside. Pico de gallo salsa that’s not overpowering, but brings a fresh kick from onions and jalapeños. Thick, shredded cheddar cheese, added at the last second, so you still get that cold, distinct cheese texture with every bite. Every single time, this burrito delivers. It’s fresh, perfectly made, and packed with flavor. Pro Tips to Make It Even Better 1️⃣ Ask them to grill it. This adds a crisp, charred layer to the tortilla that takes it to the next level. 2️⃣ Order it to go, even if you’re dining in. The burrito is huge, and if they don’t wrap it in foil, it falls apart on your plate. I love this burrito so much that when my mom visited Denver, this was the first place I took her. It’s that good. The Verdict? 8.8 out of 10 If you ever find yourself in Denver, do yourself a favor—head to Izzio Bakery inside Denver Central Market and grab the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito. You won’t regret it! 📍 Izzio Bakery – Denver Central Market 📍 2669 Larimer St, Denver, CO 80205 Let me know if you’ve tried it, or if you have your own Denver breakfast spot I should check out! #OneBiteFoodie #FoodReview #DenverEats #IzzioBakery #BreakfastBurrito #FoodieFinds #HiddenGems #EatLocal #ChorizoBurrito #MileHighEats #FoodieAdventures

Saúl Bistro (Casa Saúl)
The LA SAN ÁNGEL at Saúl Bistro
Written Review:
One Bite Foodie Review: The LA SAN ÁNGEL at Saúl Bistro Zona 10 (Casa Saúl) When it comes to dining experiences that transcend the food itself, Saúl Bistro Zona 10 (Casa Saúl) is a prime example of a lifestyle brand in action. Nestled in the heart of Guatemala City’s Zone 10, Casa Saúl isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an entire world of style, taste, and creativity. Before diving into the food, let me paint the scene. Casa Saúl is an enclave of chic design and eclectic charm. Beyond the bistro, you’ll find high-end men’s fashion, custom tailoring, an eyewear boutique, a barber shop, and even a curated market with an impressive wine selection. Add to this the quirky yet elegant decor—zebra statues, anyone?—and you’ve got a space that feels more like a curated experience than a restaurant. With valet service and dedicated parking, they’ve thought of everything to make your visit effortless. The Food: LA SAN ÁNGEL Now, let’s talk about the food. Today, I tried the LA SAN ÁNGEL crepe, a perfect blend of flavors and textures: Chicken: Roasted to tender perfection. Avocado: Adding creaminess to every bite. Gruyère Cheese: Buttery and soft, with a touch of sharpness that elevates the dish. Fresh Basil Sauce: Mild, creamy, and tying all the flavors together. The Crepe: Buttery and slightly crisp, it was the ideal vessel for this hearty meal. For the side, I opted for the rosemary potatoes, which were beautifully seasoned and perfectly roasted—a great complement to the main dish. My Take As with all my reviews, I consider the overall experience, from ambiance to location and concept. Casa Saúl delivered on all fronts. The food was delicious, the design was captivating, and the brand’s attention to detail was exceptional. The LA SAN ÁNGEL earned an 8.9 on my One Bite Foodie scale—a near-perfect score for a meal that’s as much about the environment as it is about the flavors. During my visit, I also filmed an in-depth video about their menu and how brilliantly it’s curated. Whether you’re in Guatemala City for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Saúl Bistro Zona 10 (Casa Saúl) is a must-visit destination. --- Plan Your Visit 📍 Address: Building 15, 6A Avenida 15-64, Ciudad de Guatemala 01010 🌐 Website: https://saulemendez.com/gt/gastronomia/saul-bistros/saul-bistro-zona-10/ For a dining experience that blends food, fashion, and lifestyle, Casa Saúl is the place to be. #OneBiteFoodie #SaulBistro #GuatemalaCityEats #SupportLocal #FoodReview

Dochi Donuts - Denver
Why The Matcha Donuts At Dochi Donuts Are Worth the Hype
Written Review:
A Sweet Stop in Denver: My Dochi Matcha Crunch Donut Review On a brief layover in Denver, I made a quick trip to the RINO District for a nostalgic and delicious stop at Dochi Donuts, a mochi donut shop I first learned about when they launched in the city a few years ago. Back then, Dochi was making waves, having already found success in other locations, and I was thrilled to see them expand to Denver. For this visit, I decided to try their Macha Crunch Donut. This donut is a visual and textural delight: crafted from a series of mochi-like dough balls, it features a crisp, golden exterior and a soft, slightly chewy inside. Its unique structure, resembling a baby’s chew toy, adds to the fun of eating it, as you can easily pull apart each “ball” for a bite-sized treat. The Macha frosting was smooth, sweet, and balanced, while the topping of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal added a satisfying crunch with a touch of sugary cinnamon goodness. The milk chocolate drizzle provided a delightful contrast to the Macha, enhancing the overall flavor profile. I gave the Macha Crunch Dochi donut an 8.7 rating, appreciating the creativity and execution of this small business. If you’re in Denver or anywhere with a Dochi location, this is a must-try treat. I’d love to see Dochi expand to more cities across the country—this is a sweet experience everyone should enjoy!

Siete Fuegos Tulum
The Art of Open-Fire Pork at Siete Fuegos
Written Review:
Grilled Pork Tacos at Siete Fuegos: A Culinary Experience Siete Fuegos in Tulum, Mexico, offers a dining experience that sets itself apart. As you approach the restaurant, you're greeted by the sight and aroma of a half pig roasting above an open wooden fire pit—a rare sight in Tulum, where pork is typically cooked on a skillet or in an oven. This unique cooking method infuses the meat with a rich, smoky flavor and ensures a tender yet crispy texture. In my One Bite food review, I gave the grilled pork tacos an impressive 8.9 rating. Though I can’t taste or smell, the textures and oils of the pork delivered an undeniable savoriness. Each bite revealed tender, juicy meat paired with crispy edges that elevated the entire taco. The creamy guacamole provided a smooth, buttery contrast, while the pico de gallo added a refreshing, juicy layer without overpowering the star of the show—the pork. I also tried bites with the chipotle and Verde sauces, both of which enhanced the tacos in their own way. However, the third taco I enjoyed exactly as served. The pork alone was a showstopper, requiring no additional flavor enhancements. If you're in Tulum, I highly recommend stopping by Siete Fuegos to experience this unique take on grilled pork tacos.

Morning Magic at Burritow in Palma Central
Written Review:
Burritow: A Breakfast Gem in Tulum’s Palma Central In this One Bite Foodie review, I uncovered the magic of Burritow, a food truck nestled in the lively Palma Central Food Park. Known for its salsa nights, Palma Central transforms into a peaceful haven in the mornings, with Burritow as the sole spot open for breakfast. Owner Nestor takes flavor seriously—roasting his salsa and crafting a homemade marinara sauce with a savory twist. His dedication shines in every bite of the bacon breakfast burrito, which I rated an 8.8 for its standout qualities: 🌯 Tortilla: Handmade and grilled to perfection—light, buttery, and crispy. 🍳 Eggs: Fluffy, juicy, and buttery. 🥓 Bacon: Thick, crispy, and perfectly cooked. 🍅 Marinara Sauce: A bold twist with grilled jalapeños (sweetened by the roasting process) and savory tomatoes, giving a classic burrito an elevated flavor. Whether you’re here for the music or just a quiet breakfast, Burritow is the perfect spot to indulge in a creative take on a morning staple. 📍 Location: Palma Central, Tulum, Mexico 📸 Full Review: One Bite Foodie Review.

Tropitango Tulum
My Review of the Argentinian Pork Taco at Tropitango
Written Review:
Taco Heaven in Tulum: My Review of the Argentinian Pork Taco at Tropitango 🌮🔥 In the heart of Tulum's La Veleta District lies Tropitango, a cozy spot that serves up some of the best tacos I've had. I tried their Argentinian Pork Taco and gave it a solid 9/10—a testament to its flavor and quality. The pork was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with the smoky, savory goodness that every taco lover craves. The toppings were fresh, and the tortilla held it all together beautifully, without overpowering the star of the dish—the pork. But Tropitango isn't just about food. It’s about community and love for the craft. Melissa and her husband started this business 3 years ago, and their dedication shows. While filming this review, the place came alive: A guy rode up on a scooter, jokingly trying to snag a bite of my taco. A random car drove by, and a girl leaned out the window shouting, “I love their tacos!” Moments like this highlight why Tropitango has built such a loyal following. Melissa and her husband pour their hearts into every dish, and it’s clear their customers feel the love. If you’re in Tulum, don’t miss Tropitango for an authentic taco experience that’s full of flavor and local charm. 📍 Location: La Veleta District, Tulum, Mexico 🌟 Must-try: The Argentinian Pork Taco Stay tuned for the full video review on One Bite Foodie!

Golden Cham Thai
Pad Thai at Golden Cham Thai in Tulum Mexico
Written Review:
If you’re looking for that perfect balance of authentic Thai flavors right here in Tulum, Golden Cham Thai delivers with their classic Pad Thai. I first stumbled upon this spot early on in my Tulum adventure, and it’s one of those places I keep coming back to, especially with friends from the Tulum Dinner Club—a fantastic group led by Gigi that brings together a rotating crew of 30+ people to explore the best local eats and make new connections. Now, let’s get into the dish. The Pad Thai here is a real winner, earning an 8.8 in my book. The chicken is a standout—crispy on the edges, yet light and tender on the inside. The noodles are done just right, with that delightful Thai balance of sweet and savory. Every bite gives you that subtle sweetness, perfectly contrasted with the light saltiness of the sauce. Adding to the freshness, the bean sprouts are crispy and pack a nice crunch that rounds out each mouthful. While I’d love a richer peanut sauce and a bit more of a “wow” factor to make it unforgettable, this Pad Thai still satisfies as a well-executed, traditional Thai dish that’s not overly spicy—a comforting bowl that’s both hearty and familiar. As for location, Golden Cham Thai sits conveniently just off Tulum’s main road but outside the bustling tourist center, giving it an easygoing vibe without the heavy crowds. It’s the perfect place to enjoy your meal without feeling rushed or crowded. If you’re in Tulum, especially with a crew like the Tulum Dinner Club, make sure to add this spot to your list! Chencho's Restaurant
Shrimp Tacos at Chenchos Restaurant - Tulum
Written Review:
Chencho's Restaurant is an absolute hidden gem tucked away in the Veleta neighborhood of Tulum, and I had the pleasure of discovering it during a special outing with Gigi Silva, founder of the Tulum Dinner Club. Gigi's weekly gatherings bring the local community together to explore Tulum's diverse restaurant scene, often shining a spotlight on places you might not otherwise find. On this night, Gigi invited a group of about 30 people to Chencho's, a restaurant that’s definitely off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The journey to Chencho's itself was an adventure. I walked through an unpaved, dark side street to get there, but the moment I arrived, the restaurant's cozy ambiance and warm staff made it all worthwhile. The manager was particularly attentive, remembering everyone's names and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. The open kitchen allowed us to watch the food being prepared, adding to the charm of the place. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos, which were exceptional. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the blend of flavors was spot on. The balance of the slightly crisp tortilla, savory shrimp, and the sweet and salty toppings made every bite delightful. I give the Shrimp Tacos a solid 8.4 – definitely a dish I’d recommend. But the night was even more special with Gigi at the table, trying Chencho’s Arrachera (skirt steak) Burrito for the first time. Gigi noted that the burrito was thin, which she appreciated, and loved how juicy the filling was. She praised the tortilla's light crunch and the flavorful sauce, rating her burrito experience a solid 8. I've run into Gigi numerous times around Tulum, often surrounded by friends at local restaurants, which perfectly captures the spirit of her Tulum Dinner Club. If you’re ever in Tulum, I highly recommend joining one of her weekly dinners. It’s a great way to explore hidden spots like Chencho's while supporting local businesses. Chencho’s Restaurant, with its welcoming vibe, attentive staff, and hidden location in Veleta, is truly a must-visit if you’re looking to experience authentic, local cuisine in Tulum. Curry by PO Thai Tulum
Khaw Pad Sapparod Review – Curry by PO Thai Tulum
Written Review:
If you're craving a tropical twist on your meal while in Tulum, the Khaw Pad Sapparod (Thai Pineapple Fried Rice) from Curry by PO Thai Tulum is a must-try. This dish was served in a hollowed-out pineapple shell, which made for an impressive presentation and a flavorful experience. The rice itself was soft with those irresistible crispy edges that only a hot wok can create. It was fried with yellow curry that was creamy, yet mild, with no overpowering spice, allowing the other ingredients to really shine. The juicy chunks of pineapple added a sweet, tangy burst to each bite, balancing perfectly with the savory elements of the dish. One of the highlights was the buttery crunch of the cashews, which added an unexpected but welcome texture. The chicken was tender and juicy, pairing well with the rice and curry, while the peppers, onions, carrots, and chives added a colorful, fresh mix. Even the raisins worked surprisingly well, adding little pops of sweetness. I gave this Thai Pineapple Fried Rice an 8.8, largely due to the quality of the dish and the atmosphere at Veleta Market. This funky, tropical, retro market is a fantastic spot to hang out, offering a wide variety of food options. The ability to pair a BBQ bacon cheeseburger with Thai pineapple fried rice and a cold beer while catching up with friends is part of what made this experience so special. If you find yourself in Tulum, make sure to swing by Veleta Market and grab this dish at Curry by PO Thai Tulum. It’s a delicious treat that shouldn’t be missed!

Review: La Clásica Burger at MAYUMI BURGER, Tulum Sometimes, after indulging in endless tacos, all you really need is a good burger to shake things up—and La Clásica Burger at MAYUMI BURGER definitely hit the spot. From the first bite, the crispy edges of the toasted bun set the stage for the juiciest Angus beef patty. The BBQ sauce added a sweet, roasted flavor that paired perfectly with the tangy crisp of the red onion and the creamy, homemade mayonnaise. The bacon, cooked to perfection, brought that extra crunch that every great burger needs. Now, remember, I can't taste or smell, but this burger was a perfectly balanced mix of sweet, salty, juicy, crunchy, buttery, and savory. Chalino Cantina y Mezcal
The Texture-Driven Milanesa y Aguacate Taco at Chalino Cantina
Written Review:
Chalino Cantina y Mezcal, nestled at the Nomad Experience boutique hotel and hostel outside Cancun’s hotel zone, delivered a satisfying textural experience with their Milanesa y Aguacate (breaded chicken and avocado) taco. As a reminder, I’ve been unable to taste or smell since COVID in April 2021, so I rate food based on texture and the balance of salty, sweet, savory, and combinations thereof. The taco came wrapped in a soft yet sturdy corn tortilla that held up perfectly to the juicy fillings. The breaded chicken was exceptionally crispy, with a light saltiness that reminded me of chicharrones (fried pork skin), providing a delightful crunch. The contrast with the creamy avocado was spot on, as the avocado's buttery texture added a smooth layer that balanced the crispness of the chicken. A generous portion of cilantro and white onion added brightness, while the radish gave a sharp, refreshing tang that rounded out the taco’s flavor and texture profile. The chicken itself could have been a bit thicker for an added juicy tenderness to complement the breading, but overall, the taco was well-balanced, crisp, and satisfying. I couldn’t detect the exact spices, but it wasn’t overly spicy, making it accessible and enjoyable. I gave this taco a 7.5 for its impressive crunch, juiciness, and texture. If you're in Cancun, I highly recommend visiting Chalino Cantina y Mezcal to try their Milanesa y Aguacate taco — it's a flavor-packed bite worth savoring!

Dónde alex
Uncovering Authentic Local Flavors at Dónde Alex in Guatemala City
Written Review:
After spending about three weeks in Guatemala City, I stumbled upon a hidden gem just three blocks from where I was staying in Zone 10—Dónde Alex (translated: "Where Alex"). Now, Zone 10 is known as an expat hub, filled with Americanized comforts like a large Chili's restaurant, McDonald's, and Burger King, surrounded by towering mid and high-rise buildings. Finding authentic local food can be a challenge in this area, but Dónde Alex is an exception. Open Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM, this unassuming spot is where you’ll meet Alex himself, a dedicated grill master who has been waking up at 3 AM for the past 25 years to prepare his ingredients, make a morning grocery run, and set up his stall to serve a loyal crowd. On one of my regular visits for a carne shuco, I had the chance to meet Yanet, Alex’s daughter. She graciously agreed to return for a podcast episode to dive deeper into their family business and its rich history. (Be sure to tune in!) At Yanet's suggestion, I decided to try their Chorizo Shuco—and I wasn’t disappointed. What stood out to me was the incredible texture of each element in the Chorizo Shuco: The bun was perfectly soft yet had a satisfying crispness from being toasted over an open briquet fire. The grilled chorizo sausage had a firm bite and a slight char that added to its depth. A generous serving of fresh guacamole provided a smooth, creamy contrast. The ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise added a velvety richness. And the slaw—grilled cabbage with light seasonings—offered a wonderful balance of crunch and tenderness. Yanet explained that her father believes in keeping things simple, relying on the natural flavors that come from the smoke and grill rather than overwhelming the dish with too many extras. And I have to say, it works beautifully. I rated the Chorizo Shuco an 8.7 out of 10. This is more than just a food stall—it's a family-run business with heart. Over the years, each of Alex's children has played a role in helping their father maintain and grow the business, and that passion is evident in every taco, shuco, and plate they serve. Alex is truly a master of the grill. If you find yourself in Guatemala City, make sure to stop by, grab a few shucos, and tell Alex that Joseph said, “Hola!”

Better Burger B2: The Local Breakfast Burger You Didn’t Know You Needed
Written Review:
One Bite Foodie Review: The Better Eggcellent Breakfast Burger During my latest One Bite Foodie adventure, I had the chance to try the Better Eggcellent Breakfast Burger from Better Burger (B2) in Guatemala City. This burger was a delightful surprise, combining the comfort of a classic breakfast burger with the unique local flair of a Guatemalan-based concept. The Burger Breakdown: This is essentially a smash burger, which I absolutely love for its texture. The thin, crispy edges of the beef patty add a burst of flavor and crunch with every bite. The bun’s interior was toasted to perfection on the grill, providing a satisfying crunch that complemented the soft bun’s exterior. The toppings were simple yet well-executed: Caramelized onions: Packed generously and perfectly grilled, I couldn’t resist adding some to my crinkle-cut fries for an extra burst of flavor. Bacon: While I wished for thicker slices and a bit more of it (because, let’s be honest, you can never have enough bacon), it still added a savory, smoky touch. Egg: The star of the show! I’m a huge fan of eggs, and this one was cooked to perfection. The yolk was juicy and golden, dripping into every bite of the burger—messy but oh-so-delicious. American cheese: Classic, creamy, and melted just right to hold everything together. The meal came with crinkle-cut fries (always a nostalgic favorite) and a can of Coke, making it feel like a proper diner-style meal. The Verdict: I gave this burger an 8.1 out of 10. Why? It’s a comforting and familiar bite in a country where you might expect me to only review local cuisine. But sometimes, when traveling, you crave something reminiscent of home—without resorting to McDonald’s or a global chain. Better Burger (B2) is the perfect answer to that craving. About Better Burger (B2): Located in Guatemala City, Better Burger (B2) is a local fast-casual concept that takes the classic American burger experience and elevates it. Their menu features smash burgers, breakfast favorites, and sides that hit all the right notes. If you’re in Guatemala City, craving comfort food with a local twist, Better Burger (B2) is the spot to visit. Next time you’re here, skip the franchises and support this local gem. Asado Argentino Tulum
A Smoky Delight at Asado Argentino Tulum
Written Review:
Nestled in the vibrant La Veleta District, Asado Argentino Tulum is the kind of spot where food, music, and community come together. Run by two entrepreneurial brothers, this taco stand has become a beloved local gem, and they’re already expanding with a vegan food truck in the same neighborhood. It's a testament to the brothers’ knack for creating irresistible flavors and an inviting atmosphere. On this visit, I tried their pork taco for the first time—and it didn’t disappoint. The pork was beautifully tender, with a smoky, wood-fired char that added depth to every bite. A drizzle of their chimichurri sauce brought a herby brightness, while fresh tomato wedges and a squeeze of lime juice provided a refreshing balance. Then there was the subtle heat—unexpected, but a welcome surprise that lingered just enough to keep things interesting. The whole experience was pure enjoyment, made even better by the lively crowd gathered around, chatting, eating, and soaking in the good vibes. For this taco, I’m giving an 8.8. The Better Donut: Passion Fruit Vegan Donut Review In my latest One Bite Foodie review, I stopped by The Better Donut - Organic, Fresh, Delicious to try their passion fruit vegan donut, and let me tell you—it’s a game-changer! This donut is made without eggs and sweetened with honey, yet the dough delivers a taste and texture that rivals, if not surpasses, traditional donuts. It’s soft, perfectly balanced, and surprisingly indulgent without any compromise. The passion fruit cream center is light, fluffy, and not overly sweet—just the right touch of tropical delight. While visiting, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Sarah Brandow, a nutritionist, MSc, and gut health specialist. Sarah shared her journey of creating a vegan donut that doesn’t compromise on taste or texture, and she’s absolutely succeeded. I scored this donut a 9.1, one of my highest ratings, because of its outstanding quality and potential to redefine what a donut can be. Buena Vida Burger Shop
My Honest Take on the Indian Burger at Buena Vida at Palma Central in Tulum
Written Review:
Stepping into Palma Central on the outskirts of Tulum is like entering a vibrant cultural melting pot. The atmosphere is as alive as the salsa rhythms pulsing from the main stage, where dancers of all skill levels – from locals to tourists – sway together under the open sky. As you walk in, you're welcomed by a lineup of local vendors, showcasing handcrafted jewelry, aromatic essential oils, and unique local artwork. The semi-circle of gourmet food trucks surrounding the dance floor completes the scene, creating a casual, yet lively space where community and creativity thrive. My introduction to Palma Central came through an impromptu invite to salsa night from new friends I'd met at the Veleta Market. That first night, I savored Argentinian empanadas with a cold Pacifico, absorbing the scene under the stars. Since then, I’ve been back several times, working my way through a range of specialty items from the food trucks. But one stall kept calling my name: Buena Vida Burger Shop. Known for its plant-based menu with both meat and vegan options, I had my eye on their Indian Burger since day one. The Indian Burger was a unique twist, made with a lentil patty seasoned with curry and mustard, and topped with hummus, caramelized onions, sour pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a brioche bun. It was served with house mayo – a promising combo that had me intrigued. I admit, I initially imagined an Indian-inspired burger dripping with curry flavors, like tikka masala in a bun. But the real experience was subtler, more of a spiced lentil patty with a balance of Mediterranean flavors. With some encouragement from the Canadians I shared a table with, I decided to film an impromptu review. My rating? A solid 7.9. Here’s why: the patty had a texture that reminded me of a giant, well-seasoned tater tot, but I would have loved a crunchier, crisper finish. I found myself wanting more salt, and for the caramelized onions to shine through. The bun was soft, and while it was good, a toasted, firmer bun would have elevated the experience. To spice things up, I added sides like house mayo, BBQ sauce, jalapenos, and aoli, which added some depth but still left me wishing they leaned more into the "Indian" concept. A side of curry sauce for dipping could have taken it up a notch. Still, the ambiance of Palma Central truly complements the dining experience, with the live salsa, laughter, and the night sky over Tulum. I’ll definitely be back to try more items and soak in the lively scene, rating the Indian Burger 7.9 – a good vegan option, made memorable by its unique location and the unforgettable Palma Central vibe.

Focaccia Avocado Toast at Rabbit Hole: How the perfect mix of flavors and ambiance make this toast an 8.9 must-try If you're wandering through Tulum and craving something beyond tacos and chilaquiles, make your way to Rabbit Hole at Radio Tulum. This not-for-profit community hub in the heart of Central Tulum is more than just a place to eat—it's a cultural experience. Radio Tulum is a space that merges art, music, and local flavors, featuring two distinct dining options: Rabbit Hole and Mom’s (Indian food). Complete with a boutique hotel, full bar, co-working spaces, a pool, and live entertainment, this place has it all. But let's talk about the food: the focaccia avocado toast with fresh sprouts, macha salsa, and poached eggs at Rabbit Hole. The ambiance here plays a huge role in how you enjoy your meal. It's casual, cool, and effortlessly welcoming, with local artwork, vinyl record coasters, and open-air seating that sets the perfect backdrop for enjoying a slow, flavorful breakfast. Each bite is a delightful mix of textures and flavors. The creamy avocado balances out the heat from the macha salsa, which gives just the right kick without being overpowering. The fresh sprouts add an earthy crunch, and the poached eggs are soft, with their rich, golden yolk tying everything together beautifully. This dish scored an 8.9 on my One Bite Foodie scale. Burgerito at Veleta Market
Burgerito BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Review – Veleta Market
Written Review:
Tulum may be known for its tacos, but if you’re looking for something different, head to Veleta Market and check out Burgerito. I decided to try their BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, and it did not disappoint. The bun was soft, fluffy, and lightly toasted, with just the right amount of crispy edges and a hint of char. But the star of the show was the 100% beef patties. Slightly smashed, they had a fantastic crispy crunch and char on the edges, while still being juicy on the inside. The American cheese melted into a creamy, sharp gooeyness that pulled everything together perfectly. The BBQ sauce brought that sweet, smoky, caramelized flavor, while the thin, crispy bacon added the salty crunch that every good burger needs. This wasn’t just another burger in a taco town; it was a true BBQ bacon treat. I gave this burger an 8.7—not just because of the quality of the burger itself but also the environment at Veleta Market. The market offers a fun, tropical-meets-retro vibe with multiple food options. Being able to pair a BBQ bacon cheeseburger with pineapple fried rice and a cold beer from the bar while catching up with friends makes this an unforgettable Tulum experience. So, if you're ever in Tulum, swing by Veleta Market and give Burgerito a try. You won’t regret it!

Raum Gallery
A Feast for the Senses: Thai Green Curry and Ambiance at Raum Gallery
Written Review:
When you're in Tulum, everything—from the food to the surroundings—plays into the experience. It’s a place where ambiance becomes as important as what's on the plate. And if you're looking for a hidden gem to blend those elements seamlessly, look no further than Raum Gallery in the La Veleta neighborhood. You won't find the overly commercial vibe of the hotel zone here; instead, you’re greeted by a setting bathed in calm red hues, with outdoor seating that invites you to linger and soak in the eclectic decor. As soon as I pulled up, either walking or on one of Tulum's ubiquitous scooters or bicycles, I knew I was somewhere special. From the wooden porch entrance to the quirky, repurposed decor and art scattered about, the place oozes personality. And let's not forget the bathroom—it’s not every day you get anime porn wallpaper making a cameo. Raum Gallery doesn't just serve food; it serves a vibe, a mood, an energy. But let's talk food. I asked the manager what they're known for, and without hesitation, he suggested their Thai Green Curry with Pork—a dish that's taken on a bit of a legendary status around here, thanks to their "secret" curry. Now, here's the kicker: I lost my sense of taste and smell back in April 2021, thanks to COVID. So when I’m reviewing food, it’s all about texture, the interplay of savory and sweet, and the feel of it all. This ramen was texturally a joy. The noodles were tender, with just the right amount of bite—enough to let you twirl them up with your chopsticks but soft enough to easily melt into the savory pork oils floating in the broth. And man, the broth was something else. Even without tasting it, I could tell it had body and depth. Its clarity contrasted with the richness of the pork oil that coated the surface, giving it a slightly glossy sheen that begged to be slurped. Then there was the seaweed, which I mistakenly called spinach at first—it had that same tender, earthy texture that added a subtle complexity to the dish. The seaweed wasn’t chewy or rubbery; instead, it blended with the noodles, giving each bite an extra layer of flavor. The pork, stringy but tender, had that perfectly broiled texture, with just enough crispiness around the edges to keep things interesting. The green curry itself was a bit of a revelation, considering it wasn't thick as I'd expected. It was more like a light sauce that infused the broth rather than overpowering it. The manager had told me they keep it on the milder side so more people can enjoy it, and he was spot on. It added warmth without overwhelming, and balanced the savory notes of the pork with a subtle but satisfying heat. There was also bamboo, tender but with just enough snap to bring yet another texture to the bowl. And let's not forget the hard-boiled egg—a classic ramen touch. Firm whites with a creamy yolk, perfectly sliced in half, it sat there like the final puzzle piece of this delicious collage. I’m giving this dish an 8.7. Sure, it's more than just the food; it's the whole package. The ambiance at Raum Gallery, the moody lighting, the art, and that inviting energy, all play a huge part in the experience. It’s the kind of place where you don’t just eat—you dine, you linger, you catch up with friends, or make new ones. It’s romantic, it’s quirky, and it’s entirely its own. So, if you're ever wandering through Tulum, make sure to carve out some time to stop by Raum Gallery in La Veleta. Order the Thai Green Curry with Pork, even if you're not a curry person. It’s the kind of place where food meets art, and every meal becomes a story.

Chalino Cantina y Mezcal
Legua de Res at Chalino Cantina
Written Review:
Chalino Cantina y Mezcal, located at the Nomad Experience boutique hotel and hostel outside Cancun's hotel zone, serves up a traditional Mexican street taco that reaches back to ancient times: the Legua de res (beef tongue) taco. As a reminder, I lost my sense of taste and smell due to COVID in April 2021, so my reviews focus on texture, saltiness, sweetness, and the balance of savory and sweet. This taco did not disappoint. The soft yet sturdy corn tortilla held up impressively well, containing all the rich juices without falling apart. The beef tongue itself was tender and lightly salty, with a pleasant, subtle beefy oiliness that wasn’t overwhelming but still delivered satisfying texture. Alongside the tongue was a perfectly balanced combination of crisp white onion, a sprinkle of cilantro, and a fresh slice of red radish — each adding layers of texture and brightness. While I can’t identify the exact spices in the meat, the overall experience was juicy and flavorful, with each bite offering great texture and balance. I gave this taco a 7.4 for its impressive texture and savory satisfaction. If you're in Cancun, I highly recommend stopping by Chalino Cantina y Mezcal to try their Legua de res taco. It’s a delicious dive into Mexican tradition!
