At One Bite Foodie, we’re all about celebrating the creativity and passion of food and beverage content creators. But have you ever wondered about the story behind our logo? The colors, the shape, and even the font—all were chosen with purpose and personality in mind.

Logos are often overlooked, yet they serve as the visual identity of a brand. They tell a story, convey a message, and help people connect with the company’s mission. At One Bite Foodie, every single design choice in our logo was intentional—from the color selection to the unique bite mark in the corner.

To get the full scoop, we sat down with Joseph Haecker, founder of One Bite Foodie, to dive into the meaning behind the design. Grab a snack, settle in, and let’s explore the thought process behind the One Bite Foodie brand.

THE INTERVIEW

A Logo Unlike Any Other

One Bite Foodie Blog

Staff: Joseph, let’s start at the beginning. What inspired the One Bite Foodie logo?

Joseph Haecker: When we set out to design the logo, we knew we wanted something distinctive and instantly recognizable. The food industry is full of warm, inviting colors like red, yellow, orange, blue, and green because they’re known to stimulate appetite or convey freshness. Think about McDonald's, Burger King, Whole Foods, or Pepsi—these colors are everywhere in the food and beverage industry.

But here’s the thing—One Bite Foodie isn’t a restaurant or a food brand. We’re a social media platform. And that meant we had to take a different approach.

If you look at social media networks, you’ll see that blue and red dominate the landscape. Facebook, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, and even TikTok all use shades of blue or red because those colors signify trust, engagement, and energy. But One Bite Foodie isn’t just another social platform either. We wanted to step outside the norm while still capturing the spirit of food and childhood nostalgia.

That’s where purple comes in.

Why Purple? The Sweet Spot Between Food & Fun

One Bite Foodie Blog Staff: Purple isn’t a common color in the food space. Why did you choose it?

Joseph: That’s exactly why we went with it! Purple is actually more common in cookie and dessert brands than in traditional food branding. It’s a color that evokes fun, imagination, and indulgence—and when we thought about what One Bite Foodie represents, that just made sense.

Food is more than just sustenance—it’s an experience, a joy, a way to connect with people. We didn’t want a corporate, stiff social media feel. We wanted something playful and exciting, something that reminded people of the fun of discovering new foods, sharing meals with friends, and reminiscing about childhood treats.

Think about some of the biggest snack brands that use purple—there’s a reason they do. It stands out, it’s fun, and it immediately sparks positive emotions. That’s what we wanted One Bite Foodie to embody.

The Bite in the Logo: A Playful, Yet Meaningful Detail

One Bite Foodie Blog Staff: Let’s talk about the shape of the logo. It’s a square with rounded edges—but with a bite taken out of it. What’s the story there?

Joseph: Great question! If you look at most social media platform icons, they follow a common theme: they’re usually square with rounded corners. That’s because they need to stand out on mobile devices, app screens, and website tabs. We followed that basic structure for recognizability and functionality, but then we asked ourselves:

"How do we make this uniquely ours?"

That’s when we came up with the idea to take a bite out of the left corner.

It’s a direct nod to our name—One Bite Foodie—but it also symbolizes the way we approach food content differently. It’s not just about reviewing a dish; it’s about taking that first bite, experiencing something new, and sharing that excitement with others.

The bite mark also adds a sense of movement and playfulness. Think of Apple’s logo—one of the most iconic tech logos in history. Their bite mark makes it more memorable and visually appealing. We wanted that same effect—a simple, bold symbol that represents who we are in an instant.

The Font & Text: It’s All About the Creators

One Bite Foodie Blog Staff: The text in the logo is also unique. Can you walk us through that decision?

Joseph: Absolutely. We wanted to make sure the word “foodie” was front and center. That’s why we used a bold, lowercase font, tilted slightly at an angle to give it an energetic, dynamic feel.

The choice of all lowercase letters was very intentional. In most logos, brands want to appear big and important, so they capitalize or enlarge their name. But we didn’t want that.

One Bite Foodie isn’t about us as a company—it’s about the content creators, the food lovers, the reviewers, and the people sharing their passion. By using lowercase letters, we’re saying:

"Hey, we’re not the center of attention here—you are."

One Bite Foodie Blog Staff: And what about the “I” in foodie? It’s a different color!

Joseph: Good eye! The “I” in foodie is olive green, and while it looks like it’s slightly slanted from the word “foodie,” it’s actually in perfect alignment with the logo. This represents how each creator on our platform is unique, but still an essential part of the community.

It also subtly reinforces the idea that One Bite Foodie is a place where individuality is celebrated. You don’t have to be a massive influencer or a professional food critic to belong here—anyone with a love for food and beverage can thrive.

A Logo That Represents a Movement

One Bite Foodie Blog Staff: So, in a nutshell, what does the logo represent?

Joseph: The One Bite Foodie logo is a fun, social platform built for food and beverage content creators. Every element—the color, the bite mark, the playful font—was chosen to reflect the joy, excitement, and passion that comes with discovering and sharing great food.

It’s also a statement. We’re not just another social media platform. We’re not just another food blog. We’re a movement built around passionate creators who love food and drink as much as we do.

One Bite Foodie Blog Staff: We love it! Any final thoughts?

Joseph: Just that we hope our logo makes people smile and get excited to create content. At the end of the day, food and beverage bring people together, and that’s exactly what One Bite Foodie is all about.
